Browser

Use the in-app browser when you want to edit the live page instead of describing the UI in chat. This is not the same as Visual mode in the composer. Visual mode asks the agent to design. The browser lets you click the page in front of you.

Start the page

1. Run your app the way you usually do (npm run dev, and so on).
2. Copy the local URL (for example http://localhost:3000).
3. Open that URL in Shape’s browser.

This works with Next.js, Vite, Astro, and Remix. The app has to be running. Shape does not start it for you. If the preview cannot reach localhost, the dev server is not up, or it is bound to another host. See troubleshooting.

Edit the page

Select an element and change it. Shape writes the same change into the source. You still review the diff in the thread. Keep it if the source matches what you changed on the page. Skip it if it touched the wrong file.

What to expect

• Layout and copy changes map cleanly when the element is in one component.
• Shared components update every screen that uses them. That is correct. Read the diff before you keep it.
• Styles that come from a design token may change the token, not a one-off class.

Chat on the side

You can still send a Visual or Code message while the browser is open. Say which screen you have open if the app has more than one route. When you are done, go back to Code for logic that is not on the page.
